Promising MS Points for free, bandits steal money from victims

According to British newspaper The Sun, thousands of users of Xbox Live were victims of a gang that sent emails offering MS Points , but pointed to a fake website that had the intention to steal these people, a practice known as phishing. To be eligible for points that serve as currency in online network of Microsoft , players had to provide some sensitive data like credit card number and this information, the thieves stole small sums of money for several weeks, making detection more difficult. According to the newspaper, on average, victims lost 100 pounds 35 countries, with some reaching 200 pounds.



Even with the thefts have occurred outside of Xbox Live , the maker of the Xbox 360 ruled on the case, ensuring they're doing everything possible to help those who have been deceived."The safety of members of Xbox Live is of utmost importance, which is why we always take steps to protect the service against the threats that are constantly changing. "

The Microsoft said it was still working with users who have had their accounts tampered with and is warning people not to open unsolicited e-mail for them, as they may contain malicious files that are used to scams, and ask that our passwords do not provide to strangers, recommendations rather obvious, but unfortunately are not followed by all.
