German court says that Apple violates patent applications of Motorola, says company

The Motorola Mobility announced on Friday (9) that the court of Manheim, Germany, decided that Apple infringes on a patent related to the company's mobile communication technologies with the sale of the iPhone and the iPad.



"We are happy with the decision," said Scott Offer, senior vice president of Motorola. According to the company, the court gave a limiting Motorola and the right to receive damages. There is still no confirmation if the sales of Apple devices are effectively suspended in the country.

"We will continue taking all measures necessary to protect our intellectual property," said Offer. "We are negotiating with Apple and offer reasonable licensing terms since 2007."

Motorola's complaint was made in April and that Apple copied a "method to make the countdown during a transfer of data originating from a mobile device," the BGR blog. The decision is still preliminary, says the publication.
