Meet the QBO, a robot that learned to recognize themselves in mirrors, through artificial intelligence. The robot was trained so that each time you face a mirror, can see his own reflection, giving a pre-programmed response, thus confirming the visual identification.

The robot was created by the Spaniard Francisco Peace desiger in his Thecorpora robotics company, based in Madrid. Initially, the intention was to create a robot programmed to recognize faces and objects controlled by a smartphone. But at a certain point in development of the project, the developers of the QBO decided to see what would happen if the robot identify yourself in the mirror.

The ability to recognize is considered a sign of intelligence. This feature is found in primates, dolphins, elephants and, of course, humans. With this type of experiment, it is possible to extend the possibilities of artificial intelligence systems, adding another component to make the system more efficient in other applications.

The team Thecorpora posted a video on YouTube showing the process of learning the QBO. At first, the robot was not able to identify what I was looking in the mirror. Over time, artificial intelligence robot was learning that the projected image in the mirror was his. At one point, the researcher ample test question for the QBO what he was looking in the mirror and the robot responds: "Oh! This is me! Cool ".
