Before announcing the iPhone 4S , the Apple introduced the new applications that will be present in iOS 5 . Among them is the Cards , a program to create "beautiful cards on your iPod Touch or iPhone."The system is already one of the earliest known users of Apple products. The iPhone has had a similar feature, allowing the creation of postcards as part of iPhoto.
The innovations brought by the brand new Cards , however, are more related to logistics. In the words of Scott Forstall, vice president of IOS software, "you create the card into your iPhone and we'll do the rest." Apple takes care of printing and mailing house directly to the recipient's card created. The user now only needs to worry about choosing the right picture, customize it with one of 21 different designs of frames available and write a message to accompany. Pretty simple.
The application itself is free. Apple, however, charge a fee for each card sent. They are mere U.S. $ 2.99 posts within the U.S. territory and U.S. $ 4.99 for international. The official launch of the Cards will take place along with the iOS 5 on Oct. 12, Wednesday.
